The stand for the Oceanic has a different size top, is more sleek looking as to that of the Nano with vertical chrome support bars on either front corner. I showed my friend the stand and explained the difference to this one and the one I showed him on line that I ordered. At that time I had also noticed one of the screws missing from the top of it. Disappointed, I headed for home, empty handed. After arriving home, I checked my email and found to my surprise, an email stating that the payment had cleared their end BEFORE I had even left home????? Anyway, the owner delivered the order, and to my amazement, what did he try to deliver, but the same stand with the missing top screw that was in his store. I refused delivery of this item. I told him that was it not only the wrong size stand to fit my tank,that it was used, from the wrong manufacture and that even if it had have been new, there was never even an offer of the there being a price difference of it being $20.00 + tax cheaper than the one I ordered. He said it was a new stand that they ordered in for me and that he wished that Oceanic would stop sending the old model stands and that his partner loaded the truck and he didn't know it was the wrong stand. He left with it. I called the store the following day to find out that the replacement would take two weeks to come in and there was a question whether he would deliver it of not. Then the fun started. I asked for a refund for the stand because the aquarium was still sitting on my coach and I couldn't wait another 2 weeks for it to come in. I talked to the manager of a local store that said they could have one for me in 3 days. After about 50 emails They refused to deliver the stand unless I payed the delivery charge AGAIN. They told me there was a 25% re-stocking fee. They refused to give me back the taxes I payed on the item,saying that their web server collected them. Then after demanding the taxes back, they told me I was to be charged another fee to regain the money from their provider that they were going to cover,but....So, I have have NO stand. I was refunded $109.00 on a item that cost me $244.08 plus $40.00 in gas to my friend and $15.00 for the delivery charge of the wrong item. A loss of $190.00! He then informed me that any other dealings with this matter would cost me a consultation fee and that he restricted me from the online site. Any emails that are sent are on auto return. Also when told the the fan unite in the new tank he sold me was defective, he would not honor the warranty and told me to contact the manufacture in the States.

It was SUPPOSED to provide a one-time payment based on the age of the policy. Shortly thereafter, I had a non-cancerous tumor removed. It was never diagnosed as malignant so my aflac agent advised me no to file a claim. I followed his advice.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with cancer. I talked with my aflac agent and he helped me with the paperwork and calculate what my payment would be, based on the 1990 purchase date. I filed a claim with aflac, never expecting any problem based on how honest the duck looks. Well, looks can be deceiving. They refused to pay the full amount because, according to them, I should have filed in 1990, when the amount due me would have been much lower since the policy was so new. Never mind that in 1990 it was a benign tumor, and my aflac agent told me not to file.

I negotiated with them for weeks and provided several medical reports that showed the 1990 tumor to not be cancerous. My aflac agent told me that he had told aflac about this situation and confirmed that he had indeed advised me not to file in 1990. Well, ducks must be very obstinate and dishonest creatures. I again was refused the full amount owed me.

Finally, I retained an attorney. He had about as hard a time as I did communicating with them. They changed their attorney working this case at least once and maybe twice. After several weeks of negotiations, the aflac duck finally offered a GENEROUS settlement that amounted to much less than what they still owed me.

My attorney suggested that I take it. He said the duck was notorious for its STALLING TECHNIQUES and that all we could do was have the case heard in court. This would consume so much money that even I won, I would lose. So as many probably have done before me, I settled for much less than what I believe the policy owed me.

More corporate lawyers and deep pockets usually determine the outcome of this kind of case.

I feel obligated to share my aflac experience with all who will listen. Perhaps I can prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did. Do not be charmed and bedazzled by the innocent looking duck. Look slowly and carefully at what is hidden underneath those snowy-white feathers. If you are looking for a completely honest and straight-up insurance policy, my opinion is that you look elsewhere.
